Indiana Programs Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network (IFPN) 877-GET-HOPE
A public-private partnership headed by Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman that is working to reduce the number of home foreclosures in the state. IFPN has established a toll-free, confidential help-line for Hoosiers facing foreclosure. The help-line is answered daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Callers will receive budgeting help, a written financial plan and/or assistance in contacting lenders, all of which will be provided free of charge. If callers need more help than can be provided over the phone, they will be referred to a state-certified foreclosure prevention specialist in their area, also free of charge. Northwest Indiana Reinvestment Alliance 219-931-9300
The Northwest Indiana Reinvestment Alliance is a not for profit organization whose mission is to help individuals and families work through difficult financial times by providing education, counseling and workouts for those facing foreclosure. The foreclosure process can be a difficult, stressful and challenging time for a family. The sooner you take action, the more they can do to successfully get you through the process. The NWIRA is a HUD certified counseling agency.
Federal Programs FHASecure 1-800-CALL-FHA
The FHASecure refinancing product allows families with strong credit histories who had been making timely mortgage payments before their mortgage rates increased but are now in default to qualify for refinancing. Eligible homeowners must meet the following five criteria:

A history of on-time mortgage payments before the borrower’s teaser rates expired and loans reset;

Interest rates must have or will reset between June 2005 and December 2008;

Three percent cash or equity in the home;

A sustained history of employment; and
-
Sufficient income to make the mortgage payment.

Other Organizations Homeownership Preservation Foundation 888-995-HOPE The Homeownership Preservation Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which creates partnerships with local governments, nonprofit organizations, borrowers and lenders to help families overcome obstacles that could result in the loss of their homes.
The NeighborWorks Center for Foreclosure Solutions 888-995-HOPE
The NeighborWorks Center for Foreclosure Solutions, an initiative of NeighborWorks America, was created to preserve homeownership in the face of rising foreclosure rates. In conjunction with national nonprofit, mortgage and insurance partners, the Center builds capacity among foreclosure counselors around the nation, conducts public outreach campaigns to reach struggling homeowners, and researches local and national trends to develop strategic solutions. In cities and states with high rates of foreclosure, the Center works with local leaders to create sustainable foreclosure intervention programs. Already the Center’s work has reached thousands of homeowners.
