Membership FAQ's
The following are questions that are encountered on a regular basis. Please review to see if the information you are in need of is addressed in this section. Thank you.
Q - How do I change my personal information with GNIAR?
A - Send new information to Matisha Gossett by email at matisha@gniar.com or by FAX at 219-795-3611.
Q - How do I process my status change to GNIAR?
A - If switching status from an agent to a broker for example, send the information, along with a copy of your new license to Matisha Gossett at matisha@gniar.com or by FAX to 219-795-3611.
Q - Where can I get information regarding registration for the GNIAR orientation program?
A - Contact Kim Rozek at kim@gniar.com
Q - I had my license inactivated/put into referral (NOT membership termination due to non-payment). How do I rejoin?
A - If you were out for more than one year, you must reapply as a new member, paying all application fees and dues. If it has been less than one year since your membership has lapsed, you must pay the current dues on a pro-rated basis. In either case, please contact Mathisha Gossett at matisha@gniar.com.
Q - How do I join GNIAR?
A - You must complete the membership application form (you and your broker must sign this form), provide a copy of either your license or your "pass sheet" from the license exam or copy of your license application. You and your broker must read and sign the acknowledgement of Orientation form. Additionally, all required dues and fees must be paid at the time of application.
Q - How do I join as a "Secondary Member?"
A - You must first be a member in good standing with another REALTOR® association. You must complete the application form packet, provide a copy of your license and a letter of good standing from the association of your primary membership. Please contact Matisha Gossett at matisha@gniar.com regarding dues.
Q - Do I need to physically come into the GNIAR office to join?
A - No. Simply download and print a membership application and additional required information via fax at 219-795-3611. You will then be contacted for credit card information for payment or you can mail the completed application along with either a check or your credit card information to:

Additionally, any new member will need to physically come into the GNIAR office to pick-up their Supra Displaykey. We encourage you to make an appointment for these activities.
Q - How much are the membership dues?

Q - What should I do when I change offices?
A - You must complete the application for reassignment of license. You may obtain this form from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Click here to link to the IPLA site and to download the application for license reassignment.
Q - I am also licensed as an agent/broker working as an office assistant only; do I have to join the association? Do I have to pay for MLS?.
A - You may join as a non-member licensee in the office; the Broker's dues will increase to reflect the addition of a non-member licensee or you may join the Association yourself. If you are affiliated with an office that has MLS participation, then you must also subscribe to the MLS.
Q - I am working as an agent in an office that uses the MLS. Personally, I never use the service. Do I still need to pay the MLS fees?
A - Yes. As a licensed agent with a participating MLS firm, you have the potential of using the service at any time and are therefore responsible for the payment of the required fees. (See MLS Bylaws Article 4, Section B)
Q - I am a secretary at a real estate office and I don't hold a real estate license. Do I have to pay the MLS fees?

Q - I am licensed in Illinois and belong to an Illinois association. I am also licensed in Indiana and associated with an Indiana office. Am I requied to belong to GNIAR?
A - You have the option of having secondary membership with us. However, if you are afiliated with a MLS Participant office in either state, you must subscribe to the MLS. (See MLS Bylaws Article 4, Section B)
Q - I have been a member for over 40 years. How do I gain REALTOR Emeritus status?
A - Contact Veronica Dunn at veronica@gniar.com. We would be happy to file your REALTOR Emeritus status request with the National Association of REALTORS®.

Q - How do I put my real estate license into a referral status?
A - Contact the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency at 317-234-3009.
Q - I have been terminated as a member. What is the cost to re-join GNIAR?
A - You must pay your previous balance and the required re-instatement fee. You would begin as a new applicant. For more additional information, please contact Matisha Gossett at matisha@gniar.com.
